Volunteers at Welcome Home Dog Rescue rescues all types of dogs, including those with medical needs; not just the cute and healthy ones. Even with a 100% volunteer-powered charity, one of the inevitable overhead we must deal with is the cost of veterinary care. Rescued dogs under the care of Welcome Home Dog Rescue often require medical attention or veterinary care and the costs do add up.
Our primary fundraiser is the Welcome Home Dog Rescue Annual Charity Garage Sale event benefiting the non-profit organization. This only our 3rd yet it has grown into a huge event, with hundreds of items donated for sale. Preparations for this event are starting this week, when we start to take donations and begin the sorting and pricing process. In the past we have had many barely used electronics, dog accessories, children’s items, books, small appliances, seasonal items, clothes, shoes, furniture, sports items, and numerous other items donated. We will also have soft drinks available for purchase as well.
So whether you have some items that you haven’t used in a while but couldn’t justify discarding them or you’re looking for lightly previously viewed books to add to your collection; this is a great opportunity to show your support for the underdogs in our care.
Located at 120 Deanna St in La Habra, CA 90631 and taking place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 3rd, this special charity garage sale raises money to help cover the costs of vet care for foster animals who have bigger needs than others. Last year’s two separate charity sales raised $2,537 and $1,195, of which 100% went toward our dogs. So mark your calendars to come and meet our dogs for adoption and see who your support is really benefiting.
This is another volunteer opportunity, as we need people to collect our donations and deliver them to our drop-off site and help both with the actual sale and the clean-up.
WHDR is also is accepting donations of new items to sell. Contact us at info@welcomehomedogrescue.org if you have items you would like to donate.
