Congratulations are in order for the De Leon family, who recently adopted Cysco, the 5 lb Chihuahua. This sweet Chihuahua loves kids and is so happy in his new home. From September 2015 to now, he's gone from skin and bones and severe neglect to a loving, forever family. In the priceless words of their younger son Isaac, "Now our family has 6 members!" I am housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Cysco's Story…

Like Bruiser from Legally Blonde, Cysco is remarkable and NOT your typical yappy Chihuahua! He's friendly, great with dogs, people, cats and very affectionate!

To MEET Cysco - fill out an application. Cut and paste this link into your web browser: www.welcomehomedogrescue.org/adoption/application-to-adopt-a-companion/

Apply to FOSTER: We're looking for another foster family, since he's currently outside in the yard during the day unattended. www.welcomehomedogrescue.org/how-you-can-help/foster/. Foster parents have the first option to adopt. We will provide all you need to foster. This is a great way to see if a dog is a good match for you and your family.

Weight: 4 pounds (will be neutered when he reaches 5 pounds) Age: 2 years Personality: Friendly, NOT YAPPY, a joy to be around, affectionate, loves to play with other dogs. He didn't even cry when they inserted his microchip at the vet! He shook a little since he'd never been to this vet before, but he's a brave little dog and very unusual for a Chi! He is a tiny bit timid at first, but warms up very quickly when he realizes you're not going to hurt him. Cysco has a ton of love to give!

Coat: Short, smooth Training: Knows sit, smart and food motivated so will be easy to train Potty trained:Yes on pee pads and outside

Health: Excellent, needs to gain 1 pound, but this will resolve itself quickly since he does eat well. No heart murmur, or any other known problems at vet check. Eyes water a touch but vet feels it was from being outside in the wind. Parasite free.

History: Had owner who adopted him as a puppy, but 6 months ago, the owner became gravely ill, and he stopped feeding him properly. Cysco was filthy, emaciated and flea infested when a volunteer stepped up to rehabilitate and rehome him. He's now eating well and in need of an owner who will love him the way he deserves! Despite being so severely neglected, this little guy doesn't hold any grudges. He's sweet as can be and full of joy!

Fostered in: Buena Park

Type of home: Cysco is currently fostered with people who work during the day, and he does well on his own during the day. Ideally, it'd be nice for him to be with someone who has more time for him. He enjoys walks and socializing. Family or single person. Apartment or fenced yard. Spaces in fence must be narrow enough for him not to be able to slip through. He will not be adopted to people who plan to keep him in the yard unattended.

Crate trained: Yes (sleep in crate at night, but I'm sure he'd love to sleep with you)

Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Kids: Yes Good with Cats: Yes

Adoption fee (non-refundable): $300

All dogs are fully vetted, tested for heartworm, microchipped, and up to date with vaccinations.

Our adoption process looks like this:

1. Adoption application review by WHDR board 2. Adoption application approval 3. Meet and greet 4. Home safety check 5. Final approval and adoption finalized

Our volunteers, donors and adopters mean the world to us! Without you, we couldn't do what we do - saving the lives of abused, neglected and abandoned dogs and providing them with a loving forever home.
